Giving Tuesday

November 27, 2018

Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving. Since its inaugural year in 2012, #GivingTuesday has become a movement that celebrates and supports giving and philanthropy with events throughout the year and a growing catalog of resources.

On this Giving Tuesday, we ask you to join us help us make a healthier, more equitable Austin by donating to Stronger Austin!

With your donation to Stronger Austin, we will be able to reach more people within our community and expand our programming.
gives an Austin resident the opportunity to attend a Stronger Austin exercise class
gives 15 kids the opportunity to attend one after school session
gives an Austin resident four hours of free bilingual health coaching
helps sponsor a Stronger Austin community fair in an underserved, Austin neighborhood

Support Stronger Austin

Stronger Austin and its founding partners including Austin Parks and Recreation Department, Austin Public Health Department, Central Health, IT’S TIME TEXAS, Michael and Susan Dell Center for Healthy Living, and My Brother’s Keeper work every day to help Austinites achieve good health. We accomplish this through the utilization and delivery of a variety of free health and wellness services directly within neighborhoods where Austinites are disproportionately at risk for obesity and related chronic diseases. To date, Stronger Austin has helped thousands of individuals lead a healthier life by providing core services that include:

  • Free physical education and fitness programming for all ages including free yoga, organized walking groups, Zumba, MixxedFit, boot camps, senior fitness classes, and afterschool programming for kids
  • Expanded access to free, healthy foods and nutrition education through a strategic partnership with the Central Texas Food Bank
  • Increased access to health services
  • Coordination with social services
