The Austin Parks and Recreation Department has been the steward of the City of Austin’s public lands since 1928. They preserve trails and offer a variety of sports, recreation, educational enrichment, arts programs, cultural opportunities, nature, and aquatic activities.

Greater Austin Area My Brother’s Keeper
The Greater Austin Area My Brother’s Keeper initiative was kicked off on March 8, 2015 at SXSWedu. This initiative is a collaboration among the City, County, University, and other organizations within the Greater Austin community, working to enhance the health, well-being, and prosperity for boys and men of color.

The Michael & Susan Dell Center for Healthy living at the UTHealth School of Public Health in Austin was founded in 2006 with a vision of “healthy children in a healthy world, and a mission to advance health and healthy living for children and families through cutting-edge research, innovative community-based programs, and dissemination of evidence-based practices."
